CADARN project

CADARN logoGlyndŵr University is part of the CADARN Learning Portal project, together with Bangor, Aberystwyth, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, and the Open University Wales. The aim of the project, which has been funded by HEFCW, is to ‘create a web portal that will showcase, promote and facilitate technology enhanced learning across the CADARN group of higher education institutions and support access to bilingual learning’.

Glyndŵr will be working to provide taster materials from our existing courses, which could be in the form of text documents, podcasts, lecture recordings or videos. Our focus has been video production, as this the area where our academics will need most support to create their own resources. To this end, the project has provided us with kit, including cameras, microphones, lights, an audio booth and a greenscreen. It has also provided us with the expertise of the CADARN Media Production team, who have been delivering workshops, providing ongoing support and collaborating with some of our academics on video projects.

If you are interested in creating a video resource that can be used in your teaching, but also shared on the CADARN Learning Portal, you have a number of options:

1. Work with the CADARN team at Glyndwr.

They can help you to shoot and edit your video. Email cadarn@glyndwr.ac.uk if you are interested. You might want to look at the checklist below, as this should help you to clarify your ideas:

2. Collaborate with the CADARN production team from Aberystwyth.

They are currently inviting expressions of interest from our academics who would like their specialist help to produce a video resource. Use the form below to outline your proposal, and please send this to cadarn@glyndwr.ac.uk.

3. Create your own video!

We have our own equipment available at Glyndwr which is available to our academics to make use of – see the Equipment available to staff section on this page, and the relevant how-to guides for equipment. If you want to borrow anything, please contact us at cadarn@glyndwr.ac.uk.

There is also advice on this page on media production, and post production.

If you would like to attend one of the upcoming training sessions run at Aberystwyth by their media production team, please see their Events and trainings page.
